Fatigue during pregnancy – listen to your body's signals

Fatigue during pregnancy can hit you like a wall. That feeling of exhaustion that makes it almost impossible to keep your eyes open is completely normal. Your body is working overtime to create a little new life, and that takes energy (and blood, sweat, and tears). Especially in the first trimester, the fatigue can feel indescribable and overwhelming, as if even the smallest task drains your energy, and suddenly, emptying the dishwasher or getting dressed feels like a marathon to get through.

For many, pregnancy fatigue comes as a surprise. It can feel overwhelming and more intense than anything you've experienced before – even the longest nights without sleep don't compare. You're absolutely not alone if you feel like you're completely worn out before the day has even begun. When your body is working to create life, it’s completely normal to experience this fatigue, and it can sneak up on you almost overnight. If you try to fight the fatigue, it can quickly lead to frustration, irritability, and negative energy. That’s why it’s important to allow yourself to rest and give your body the peace it needs to do what it does best – create life. You might even want to rub your belly and legs with a magnesium-rich body cream – like Ease, which is wonderful because it softens, supports elasticity, and adds magnesium – to give your body the best chance for good sleep quality.

A significant cause of the fatigue is the tsunami of hormonal changes your body is experiencing. So when pregnancy fatigue sets in, it's a signal from your body that it needs rest. Allow yourself breaks throughout the day, as much as possible. If you can, a short nap in the middle of the day can work wonders. It can feel difficult to find time for rest and relaxation, especially if you have many tasks, a busy work schedule, or perhaps a little one to take care of, but remember: Listen to your body. Pregnancy fatigue is a natural and temporary phenomenon, and fortunately, it won’t last forever. The best thing you can do in the meantime is fill your day with sleep, fresh air, and plenty of fluids. When your energy returns, you’ll feel stronger and more ready for the next chapter of your pregnancy.
